Deep Roots Weekend!

Deep Roots 2015 is now in the books and we were very excited to be a part of it!  We had tons of fun playing at the late night stage on Saturday night and the main stage on Sunday.  Zach even got to experience his very own song writer's circle!

With Dan MacCormack and Shannon Quinn at the song writers circle.  Very supportive and super talented folks!
Some post-song writers circle patio drinks..

Random happening:  Just happened to see this very cool arrangement of garbage in the shape of Newfoundland...

Bhreagh and Adelle went shopping and found exactly five Worry Birds.  Can you guess who is who?

Our road manager Jess in her happy place at the food table.

We had a fantastic experience on the main stage at Festival Theatre.  The crowd was awesome and the sound was amazing.  What a venue!!
A huge thanks must go out to all the volunteers and organizers of this years festival for making us feel so welcome.  Great to meet so many new friends and see so many talented musicians!

Deep Roots

We're very excited to be traveling to Wolfville this year to perform at the Deep Roots Festival!  September 26 at 2:00 pm, Zach will be playing solo in a songwriter's circle with Ian Janes, Shannon Quinn and Dan MacCormack,  then the full band will be playing at the late night stage at Paddy's Pub in Wolfville at 11:30 pm.  Then, on Sunday, the band will be performing along side The Chimney Swifts, Kim Harris, Kristin Andreassen, Durham County Poets, Ian Janes, and The Hupman Brothers for the final concert at Festival Theatre.  It is TOTALLY worth the drive up from the city to see so many incredible artists!  Check out the schedule here.

Adventures in Scotland!

As many of you know, four members of our band play in another, bigger band--The Dartmouth and District Pipe Band.  This August, Adelle, Bhreagh, Zach and Blaise traveled to Scotland with Dartmouth and District to compete at The World Pipe Band Championships.  We had a blast!

As well as competing at The World Pipe Band Championships, we performed throughout Scotland at a bunch of really awesome places including The Piping Live Festival in downtown Glasgow, the Blair Atholl Distillery, highland games in North Berwick and Perth, and what could be considered the world's only "drive in ceilidh" in Pitlochry.

Our fiddler Bhreagh MacDonald performed with the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band for their "Nous Sommes Pretes" concert at the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall.  It was a fantastic show and we were very proud of her!!

During our time in Scotland we also got to travel around on our own and were often treated to views like this.  Scotland is a beautiful part of the world!

It can also be a very RAINY part of the world!!

It turned out to be a very successful trip culminating in a 4th place finish out of 30 bands in grade 3A.  There were lots of smiles!

Both the pipe major and Zach (lead drummer) told the band they could shave their heads if they qualified for the final round.  They kept their promise...

Thanks to the Friends of McNabs Island!

On Feb. 21 we had the opportunity to play a benefit for the Friends of McNabs Island.  What a fun night!  We met a ton of great folks and got a glimpse into a first class volunteer organization that does excellent work in helping to preserve the provincial park on McNabs.  If you've never been to McNabs you are missing out.  When we took our instruments over in the Fall of 2013 for a photo shoot we had no idea of what to expect.  As soon as we arrived on the beach we knew we'd found a special place.  Here's a couple of shots from our photo shoot to give you an idea of what you'll find on McNabs.  We'll definitely be going back!
